FALL ALPHA COURSE
BEGINS
Monday, September 14, at
6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary at Harbor Covenant
What is Alpha?
The Alpha course is an
opportunity for people to explore the meaning of life and
the Christian faith. Elements of the class include
a wonderful home cooked meal, fellowship, video talks by Nicky Gumbel and a
time for sharing thoughts, questions and discoveries.
People attend from many
different backgrounds, religions and viewpoints. They attend
for a variety of reasons. Some want to investigate whether
God exists and if there is any point to life; others are
concerned about what happens after death. Still others may
have attended church all their life, but feel they never
really understood the basics of the Christian faith.
Alpha is the course for
everyone who thinks there may be more to life than meets the
eye.
Topics include the
following;
Is there more to life than this?
Who is Jesus?
Why did Jesus die?
How can we have faith?
Why and how do I pray?
Why and how should I read the Bible?
How does God guide us?
How can I resist evil?
Why & how should we tell others?
Does God heal today?
What about the Church?
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What does the Holy Spirit do?
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
The course curriculum is the book Questions Of
Life by Nicky Gumbel. Each talk reflects one of the
chapters from this book. The course and materials are
free and there is no obligation to attend all sessions.
Childcare is available.
